Try tailored shirts Baggier clothes may seem like a comfortable choice, but they can inadvertently give the impression that you simply rolled out of bed. Instead, opt for a fitted look with your shirts, sweaters, and polos. Some basic rules of thumb for the best fit are:

  • You can pinch one to two inches of fabric on either side of your stomach

  • The shirt ends somewhere between upper to mid crotch

  • The sleeves don't hug your arms too tightly

2. Stick to solids Keep the graphic tees and trendy patterns in your drawer. Solid colors give your outfit a more polished feel. Similarly, classic colors such as navy, black, white, and brown come off as more professional than bright, loud colors and patterns. 3. 4. Ditch the tie The beauty of remote work is that you can embrace business casual in all its glory. But if you're a leader and need to be more formal on video calls, you can choose to wear a dress shirt, but do so without a tie. 5. Swap sweats for jeans Jeans are a great middle-of-the-road option between sweats that make you feel sloppy and super structured slacks or chinos. You can't go wrong with a dark denim or black jeans.

6. Stay comfy in stylish sneaks You might be tempted to sit at your desk in socks or gym shoes, but putting on shoes can help your brain switch from lounging around to "work mode." Canvas kicks are the most versatile shoe you can buy since they go with everything — jeans, shorts, athleisure. For an elevated look, try a clean, minimalist rubber or leather sneaker.
